You scrambled to feed the book return before the closing bell.
I stood, observing, unlocking my bike.
Upon your return, unmasked
You beamed me a smile.
Leaving the parking lot at the same time,
Our eyes catching the other
You cautiously followed my deliberate slow pace,
I wanted another glimpse of your smile.
Eventually, I pulled a left and you a right,
Split paths, but constant racing thoughts.
What did your eyes say?
I wondered many a nights,
if a straight Hello would have spilled
the secret thoughts from your pretty head.
I hope to run into you again at the library!
